Having gotten a taste for the hands on creative approach, my next project was one I set myself over the Easter holidays. I set out to make an elven crown as inspired by the crown of Thranduil from the Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings franchise.

Outcome:

I am extremely proud of this piece, as it was the first time I had undertaken a project like this. And although the process was horribly difficult and at many times I thought the outcome would be impossible or unrealistic. With time, a lot of tutorials, and some perseverance, I know have a statement piece that is perfect for my outfits.
It is made from a structural base of garden wire: wrapped around itself and bent into shape for size, integrity and texture. I then used hot glue to cover it and give it bulk; using an up and down movement to create the impression of wood grain. I then spray painted it as well as using a protective layer for durability, before I bore holes into the top and glued in leaves.
